Catherine E. “Kay” Klein Pewamo Age 77, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 2, 1939 the daughter of Louis and Ireta Herald. Kay was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the choir for over 50 years and the Altar Society. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, camping, high school sports particularly P.W., the Tigers, going to casinos, and playing cards. She loved the holidays, especially Halloween, and making popcorn balls for the community, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Kay was the owner and operator of Kay’s Klip-N-Kurl for over 40 years. She was a member of the Hubbardston #182 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Kay never missed an event, and everything was an event. Kay is preceded in death by her brother, Louis “Bud” Herald; brothers-in-law, Bob Silvernail and Marv Klein; in-laws, Roman and Josetta Klein; and nephew Louie Silvernail. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Patrick; children, Julie (Bob) Ward, Mike (Susie) Klein, Lynn (Curt) Higbee, Becky (Doug) Simon, and Dan Klein; grandchildren, Amy (Nick) Barnes, Tony (Krissy) Ward, Chloe, Tawni, Lucy Klein, Erica Higbee, Lauren (John) Kaiser, Alexa (Andrew) Myers, Bryce (fianceé Nicole) Simon, and Tyler Klein; great-grandchildren, Addison Ward and Graydon Barnes; siblings, Frances (Bob) Case, Rosie (Dewey) Howard, Anita (Earl) Heppard, and Joe Herald; sister-in-law, Wanda Herald; and special friend Kathy Kramer. She is also survived by several sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and loving friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday and Monday at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St.,Westphalia MI.
