Stanley Kazlauskas Obituary

Stanley Thomas Kazlauskas, age 89 of Scottville passed away on Saturday September 17, 2016 at Oakview Medical Care Facility in Ludington. He was born on March 7, 1927 in Cicero, IL, son of the late George and Mary (Milenivach) Kazlauskas. Stanley moved with his family to the Scottville area when he was 3 years old. He attended Wiley School. On October 27, 1956 Stanley married Alice Louise Genia in Ludington. Stanley worked at Straits Steel and Wire Company and then later worked for the Mason County Road Commission until he retired in 1987. He loved music and playing the accordion and concertina, and was well known throughout the area. He was a member of the Northwest Concertina Club and also a member of the Grand Rapids Old Time Concertina Club. He took great pride and enjoyment in being able to fix or build anything he put his mind too and also making sure his lawn was in perfect condition at all times. Stanley greatly enjoyed getting together with friends at the Lithuanian dinners and had to make sure he got his share of the potato Kuegel! Stanley is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice Kazlauskas of Scottville; daughter, Nancy (Poncho) Smith of Ludington; son, Rich (Lesa) Kazlauskas of Scottville; granddaughter, Jessica (Tom) Kazlauskas – Jenkins of West Olive; great-grandchildren, Ira and Wyatt Jenkins; step grandchildren, Rob and Erica Smith of Ludington and Ali and Dave Molnar of Big Rapids; step-great-grandchildren, Bella and Jenson Smith and Andrew Molnar; lifelong friend, Robert Kran; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Millie Kay and Anthony and Katrina Kazlauskas; and an infant brother, Thomas Kazlauskas. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service for Stanley will be held at St. Mary’s Riverside Cemetery in Custer. Memorial contributions in memory of Stanley may be directed to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Food Pantry in Custer or a charity of one’s choice.
