Helen F. Petters was born in Manistee on September 24, 1931 to the late Albert and Josephine Bourgette. Her and her family moved to Ludington when she was quite young. Helen had one sibling, David Bourgette and four step-siblings Roy, Claude, Donald and Esther Stiller. Helen graduated from Ludington High School with the class of 1949. She married John Petters on September 30, 1949. They had three children, Diane, Bonni and Jay. Helen was a homemaker until all three children were grown. She worked at Gittelman’s Incorporated for six years. She eventually became employed by Lutheran Social Services of Michigan and retired after 23 years in 2008. Helen is survived by her husband John; children: Diane (Michael) Razminas, Bonni (Robert) Snyder and Jay Petters; brother: David Bougette of Louisiana; grandsons: Jason (Jacky) Petters and Brandon Petters; granddaughters: Samantha and Mellisa Razminas; step-grandchildren: Jeniffer and Lori Snyder, and Kristin and Kyle Taylor. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and many other members of the family. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private burial at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
