Michael P. Salyers 53 of Manton passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his home with his family at his side. Mr. Salyers was born July 19, 1960 in Rochester, Indiana, the son of Paul and Elizabeth L. (Lutey) Salyers. Mr. Salyers was united in marriage to Mary McGrath on February 11, 2013 in Manton. Mike has resided in Manton since 2011, coming from Grayling, Michigan and previously from Williamston, Michigan. Mr. Salyers was an avid bow hunter and a champion archer. Mike also enjoyed bowling, golfing, shooting pool and cooking. Surviving Mr. Salyers is his wife, Mary Salyers of Manton, one daughter, Michelle Pyle and husband Raymond of Grayling, two sons: Michael C. Salyers of Texas and Mitchell Salyers of Utah, his mother, E. Louise Martenies of Harrison, step-father, Earl J. Martenies also of Harrison, two sisters: Victoria L. Derk and husband Gerald of Kalkaska, Michigan and Melinda K. Weichel of Lansing, Michigan, one brother, John F. Salyers of Kalkaska, Michigan, one grandson, Grant Pyle, plus many nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Salyers was preceded in death by his father and his beloved dog, Stacy. Celebration of Life services for Mr. Salyers will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from Clare Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jim Young officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the Clare Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be held in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare.
