Eleanor Bismack Eldridge passed on at ShorePointe Nursing Center, Saint Clair Shores, Michigan on January 26, 2008. Eleanor Mary was born October 23, 1911 to Albert and Anne Kulish Bismack of Minden City, Michigan. She was part of a Sanilac County farming family composed of seven brothers and four sisters. After graduating from Ubly High School, she attended Ypsilanti State College ( now EMU ) in the early 1930's. She was executive secretary at the McCord Corporation in the mid 1930's and the Reconstruction Finance Corporation during the early 1940's. On February 20,1937 she married Detroit Cemeterian Charles David Eldridge Jr. The first of three sons Charles III was born in 1938, followed by Loyal Arthur II in 1941, and William Robert in 1948.
In the 1940's, she spent summers at Pine Lodge, Pointe Aux Barques, Michigan. Due to Charles's long association with Forest Lawn Cemetery, the family moved in 1944 to Pemberton Road, in Grosse Pointe Park. As a homemaker, she was known for her holiday entertaining, love of gardening and her dogs. Service to the community included The American Red Cross, Cancer Society, and the Trombley School PTA. As a Park resident for 41 years, she enjoyed swimming, fishing and boating on Lake Saint Clair. She loved dinners and dancing at the the Detroit Boat Club were she was active on the social committee for many years.
As a member of the Chippawa Flying Club she enjoyed flying with Charles in his plane to many midwest destinations. She enjoyed travel and had a great love of Florida, Mexico, and Hawaii. In 1985, she and Charles moved to Grosse Pointe Shores residing on Lakeshore Lane, enjoying their grandchildren The love of her life Charles predeceased her on May 11,1988. She is survived by her sons Charles and Sandra of Santa Cruz, California, Loyal and Barbara of Hickory Corners, Michigan, and William of Lake Angelus, Michigan. As well as her beloved ten grandchildren Sandra Fairon and Laura Furmanski of Palo Alto, California; Trey and Becky Eldridge of Gull Lake, Michigan; Peter and Michelle Eldridge of Portage, Michigan and Sara Eldridge of Longmont, Colorado; William Eldridge II, and Richard Eldridge of Grosse Pointe Shores; Charles Eldridge IV MD of Royal Oak; Christopher and Francis Eldridge of Cincinnati, Ohio and Elizabeth and David Weber of Chicago, Illinois. Also surviving are twelve great-grandchidren Max Fairon and Scarlett Furmanski of Palo Alto, California; Catherine, Allison and Madeline Eldridge of Gull Lake, Michigan; Alex and Mitchell Eldridge of Portage, Michigan; Garrett and Brayden Eldridge of Cincinnati, Ohio:
