Obituary for Rita Joseph
Rita P. Joseph, 80, of Potterville, MI died Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Mrs. Joseph was born August 28, 1929 in Pontiac, MI the daughter of Ernest and Clara (Ruth) French. Mrs. Joseph married her late husband, Charles Joseph Jr. in 1947 becoming co-owner of Carl’s Supermarket in Potterville. She was a member of the Potterville United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendant, on the Board of Trustee’s, was Finance Committee Chairman, President, Vice President and Secretary of United Methodist Women’s, Sunday School Teacher, Organist and several other committee’s. Mrs. Joseph was the Benton Township Clerk from 1959–1963, involved in Band Boosters from 1962-1972, a charter member of the Potterville Area Chamber of Businesses, Gizzard Fest Committee as Chairman of “Sidewalk Café” and Parade, Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She also was involved in the Benton Township/Potterville Fire Department being on the Fire Board beginning in 2002, she was a licensed E.M.T. with the National Registry & Fire Fighter, CPR and Red Cross Instructor for 40 years ending in 1997. Mrs. Joseph was a past President and Treasure of the Eaton County Humane Society and Potterville Downtown Development Committee. She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Jim) Robertson; son, Charles Joseph; daughter, Kathy Joseph; grandchildren, James (Jean) Robertson, Jeromy (Kimberly) Robertson, Jacob (Coty) Robertson and Melanie and Samuel Joseph; great grandchildren, Alexander Robertson; Eric Robertson, Kyle Robertson, Brett Robertson, Ian Robertson, Hayden Robertson, Lillian Irene Robertson; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Joseph, Yvonne Chapman and Janice French; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Joseph, Jr. in 1999. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI with Pastor Rebecca Morrison officiating. Interment will be in Benton Township Cemetery, Potterville, MI. Visitation will be Friday, March 12, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Potterville United Methodist Church, Potterville Benton Fireman’s Association or Advantage Hospice.
