Steven John Sutherland

Of Milford formerly of Waltham, passed away suddenly Monday August 8th, 2016 at the age of 46. Born on September 3, 1969 in Cambridge; beloved son of William A. Sutherland and Virginia (Barker) Sutherland of Waltham, Steven was raised and lived most of his life in Waltham before moving to Milford 15 years ago. A graduate of Waltham High School with the Class of 1987, Steven was employed as a Carpenter throughout his life. He owned and operated R & S Remodeling for several years before working for the Nelson Companies for the past 17 years. Steven greatest passion in life came from being a dad. He loved to watch and follow his son play sports. He loved his family dearly and was devoted & loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He is survived by his beloved wife Stephanie M. (DeRubeis) Sutherland, his loving son Steven D. Sutherland of Milford, his adoring step-daughters Erica Dunton and her boyfriend Michael, Lauren Dunton and her boyfriend Vinny, Emily Dunton and her boyfriend Chris all of Milford, his dear parents William and Virginia Sutherland of Waltham, his devoted siblings Mark Sutherland and his wife Judy of Waltham, Kristin Sutherland and her fiancé Paul Brown of Waltham, his cherished niece and nephews Diana, Jeff and Joseph, his mother-in-law Angela DeRubeis of Newton and father-in-law James D'Angelo of Newton, his brother-in-law Joseph DeRubeis of Natick, and his sister-in-law Andrea Goodfellow and her husband Steven of Wayland, a niece and 4nephews. In addition he is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece, 4 nephews, and numerous friends. Devoted & Loving father of the late Megan Duffy Sutherland. Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Steven’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Saturday morning Aug. 13th from 11:00 a.m. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel on Friday Aug. 12th from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Steven’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300 Jacksonville, FL 32256.
