<p>Of West Newton, passed away peacefully Saturday evening October 15th, 2016 surrounded by his loving family in his home at the age of 79. </p><p><br></p><p>Born on July 2, 1937 in Platania, Italy; son of the late Ottavio Mariano and Rosaria (Perri) Mariano, Nicola immigrated to the United States in 1968 and has been a resident of Newton for the past 44 years.</p><p><br></p><p>Nicola was a simple hardworking man who devoted his life to providing for his family. He was a Member of the Ironworkers Union Local #7; he also owned and operated his own landscaping business throughout his life. </p><p><br></p><p>In his spare time he enjoyed working around the house and tending to his garden. </p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Maria (Folino) Mariano, his devoted &amp; loving children Tony Mariano and his wife Susan of Natick, Franca Lascola and her husband Craig of Sandwich, Rosaria Salvucci and her husband Carmine of Waltham, and Ottavio Mariano and his wife Rose of Newtonville, his cherished grandchildren Nick, Joseph, Katherine, Michael, Robert, Marissa, Cristina, Julia, Alanna, Matteo, Marco, Joey and Domenic, and his dear siblings Pasqualina Costanza, Rosa Cermira, Francesco, Angelo, Raffaelle, and Giuseppe Mariano all of Italy, Antonio Mariano of Newton and Giovanni Mariano of Waltham. In addition he is survived by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.</p><p><br></p><p>Dear brother of the late Luigi Mariano.</p><p><br></p><p>Relatives &amp; Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Nicola’s Life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco &amp; Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Wednesday morning Oct. 19th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:00 a.m. Committal Ceremonies will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco &amp; Sons on Tuesday Oct. 18th from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 411 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472 or to Rosaria Salvucci, 165 Copeland Street, Waltham, MA 02451 to be used for the continued love and care of Nicola's granddaughter Marissa through a fund to be established in her name.</p>
