Of West Newton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning October 27th, 2016 in her home on her 96th birthday. Born on October 27, 1920 in Platinia, Calabria, Italy; daughter of the late Michelangelo and Frances (Caruso) Nicolazzo, Mary immigrated to the United States as a young girl at the age of 9 and was raised in Newton. She married and raised in her own family in West Newton and was a resident for over 80 years. A graduate of Newton High School, Mary was employed as an Assembler with the Polaroid Corporation for many years. Mary was a past member of the Regina Margherita Di Savoia #1094 Sons of Italy Lodge in Waltham. She enjoyed landscaping and had a love of flowers. Beloved wife of the late Michael F. Cupoli and loving mother of the late David Mark Cupoli. Mary is survived by her devoted & loving son Michael D. Cupoli and his wife Maureen, her cherished grandchildren Michael Cupoli, Katelyn Lowe and Meghan Cupoli, her adoring great grandchildren Aidan and Isabella Lowe, and dear sister of Carol Oliveri and her husband Richard of Waltham and Rose Willis and her husband Don of California. Sister of the late Jennie Albano, Antonio and Frank Nicolazzo. Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Mary’s Life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Monday morning Oct. 31st at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel on Sunday afternoon from 2 – 6 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
