Joseph Cucinotta

Of Kittery, Maine passed away peacefully Wednesday evening June 8th, 2016 in the Durgin Pines Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation at the age of 87. Born on July 28, 1928 in Boston; son of the late Santo and Nancy (DeFrancesco) Cucinotta, Joe was raised in Waltham and lived for many years in Newton before moving to Shrewsbury for several years and has been a resident of Kittery, Maine for the past year. A graduate of Waltham High School, Joe was employed as a Manager at the Raytheon Corporation in Waltham for over 47 years. He was a former member of the Newton Lodge of Elks (B.P.O.E.) #1327. Joe was a true handyman and a “Jack of all Trades”; the family could always count on him for his unique visionary skills and ability to "fix" anything. During Joe's lifetime, he devoted many of his Sundays and weekends with either his son or daughter working on various projects around their homes. He enjoyed being a craftsman, woodworking and remodeling. One of Joe's greatest enjoyment in life was going out to eat with his family and friends. During the summer months, he also could be found sitting on the deck of his home in Wells, Maine watching the wildlife and sunsets. He enjoyed playing golf and baseball, hockey and bowling. At the age of 70, he laced up his ice skates and surprised his grandsons by taking a quick spin around the rink. Joe is survived by his loving wife Sylvia (Brunelle) Cucinotta, his devoted children Nancy J. Cucinotta of Wells, Maine and Bradenton, Florida, and Joel Cucinotta and his wife Jo-Ann of York, Maine, his step-son Dennis Brunelle and his wife Colleen of Spencer, his cherished grandsons Christopher Cucinotta and his wife Robin of North Berwick, Maine, Michael Cucinotta and his wife Ardria of Framingham, MA, and Dennis Brunelle Jr of Spencer, and his adoring great grandson Domenic Cucinotta. In addition he is survived many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Beloved husband of the late Angelina “Angie” (Bianco) Cucinotta and brother of the late Anthony “Tony” Cucinotta, Nancy Sallesa and Annette Caban. Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Joe’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street,WALTHAM on Tuesday morning June 14th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Monday June 13th from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
