Obituary
Of Marlborough, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning June 9th, 2016 after a long illness in the Beaumont Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Natick at the age of 86. Born on May 29, 1930 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico; daughter of the late Ramiro Rivera and Amelia Santiago, Asuncion was raised in Puerto Rico and came to Waltham after her marriage in 1955. She resided in Waltham for many years before moving to Framingham and Marlborough. She was a devoted and loving homemaker to her husband, children, and grandchildren throughout her life. She was a mother like figure to many; and brought a great deal of comfort and healing to the lives she touched. Asuncion is survived by her beloved husband Isabelo Aviles Rivera, her loving & devoted children Lillian Gamble of Westminster, Edwin Aviles of New Mexico, Richard Aviles of Gardner, Miriam Aviles of Framingham, Nancy Aviles of Southboro and Waltham Firefighter Nelson Aviles of Marlborough, her dear siblings, Carmen, Theresa, Antonio,Lucilla, Onelia, Margarita, Obdulio, Ramiro and Francisco Rivera. In addition she is survived by 17 cherished grandchildren, 11 adoring great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her loving daughter in 1995 Daisy Aviles. Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday June 14th from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Asuncion's Life will be held in Saint Mary's Church, 145 School Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
