NORTH BROOKFIELD/EAST FALMOUTH - Wayne Granat, 79, passed away on Thursday, June 9th at his home in North Brookfield. Wayne was born in Worcester, MA. to Carl R. and Margaret Quist Granat. Wayne is survived by his wife of 46 years Cristyann Rodzik Granat, his daughter Lori Granat-Dupell, her husband Peter Dupell of North Brook field, his son Eric Granat and his wife Kimberly of Duxbury. Wayne was the adored grandfather of Benjamin and Jenna Dupell and Stella and Sam Granat,and the loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Rudolph C. Granat of Auburn and his sister Elaine Matthews of Brewster. He is survived by his brother Jerol Granat of Worcester. Wayne was a graduate of Commerce High School, Worcester Junior College and Oberlin College in Ohio. He enjoyed a successful career as Vice President of Commerce Insurance Company in Webster and then as co-founder of Wagner BMW in West Springfield. Wayne was a corporator of North Brookfield Savings Bank.An avid skier, fisherman, and golfer, Wayne enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends fishing on his boat on Cape Cod,skiing in the mountains of Vermont,or travelling to warmer climates with his grandchildren. Wayne was a mem ber of Quail Hollow Country Club,an active Freemason and past Master of the Hayden Lodge. He was also a member of the Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in North Brookfield. Wayne, affectionately known as “Rocky” by many, will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, his unique ability to make friends wherever he travelled, and his dedicated love and support of family and friends. Calling hours are on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from 5-7PM in Pillsbury Funeral home, 44 Gilbert St., North Brookfield. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 11AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
