Robert Laur

Robert T. Laur, 89 of Sykesville formerly of Catonsville died Wednesday September 14, 2016 at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Westminster, MD. He was born March 30, 1927, in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Charles A. Laur, Sr. & the late Katherine (nee Stubbs) Laur. He was the beloved husband of Mary Evelyn (nee Anderson) Laur with whom had just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on September 10th. He worked as a senior financial manager for over 35 years at Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Treasurer at Bishop Cummins Memorial Reformed Episcopal Church for 37 years. Dedicated Family Man, loved to help others. Was an Avid Baltimore Colts, Ravens and Orioles fan. Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter Lillian Suzanne & Larry Groat, Brooklyn, MD, Son Robert T. Laur, Jr. & Sue of Ellicott City, Son, Michael D. Laur & Edie of Westminster, and son William A. Laur & Janelle of Ellicott City. Also survived by grandchildren Ricky, Jeannie, Rob & wife Tracy, Jesse & wife Alicia, Troy & wife Katie, Erin & husband Dave, Brooke & husband Ashley, Melissa & husband Jeremy, Mitchell, Lilly and 19 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters in-law Ruth Smith and Flora Mae Hamshey and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers Jack and Charles “Chic” Laur and brother-in-laws Earl Smith and Paul Hamshey. Funeral Service will be held at St. Stephen’s Reformed Episcopal Church 2275 Liberty Rd. Eldersburg, MD 21784 on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Lake View Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Sykesville, MD 21784.
