Liamm Crooks Obituary

Liamm Reeve Crooks passed away on July 17, 2016. He was born September 16, 2001 in Redlands, California to Stacie Lee (Stegall) Crooks of Mount Airy, Maryland, and Jeremy David Crooks of Yucaipa, California. Liamm is survived by his parents, sister Tarrah Haliegh Crooks (20), and brother Desmond Rilaigh Crooks (17), both of Mount Airy, Maryland. Also surviving are maternal grandparents Albert Henry Stegall and Jennifer Breckenridge (Amyx) Stegall, and paternal grandparents James Darrell Crooks and Karen Elizabeth Sikes, all of Yucaipa, California; maternal uncle Albert Holmes Stegall and wife, Kate (Kyonga) Stegall, and cousin Alyssa Lynn Stegall of Monterey, California; and paternal uncle James Darrell Crooks Jr., and cousins Gabriel, Elizabeth, and Joel Crooks, all of Redbluff, California. Liamm was a member of the Mount Airy congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as president of the Teachers’ Quorum. He will be remembered for his polite demeanor—greeting everyone he met and offering help wherever needed—and his dapper Sunday style with slicked-back hair, dark suit, and signature bow tie. He was dearly loved by the youth, particularly by the Young Women to whom he frequently complimented and to whom he brought handcrafted gifts. His bright imagination and creativity produced unique inventions and art. His last project involved tin cans from which he was planning to create a suit of armor. Liamm’s greatest joy was in serving others, which is illustrated beautifully in a note sent by his teacher upon hearing of Liamm’s passing: This Spring, I had an older student type an essay for him. They worked so well together, and at lunch, he went and bought her a smoothie. He came back and gave it to her to thank her for her help. What child does that with his own money, without an adult suggesting it? Very few would think to, but your son was so kind and generous. He wanted others to like him and they did like him. He had such a sweet soul. He had such style and another one of our kids would always compliment Liamm on his outfits. Liamm would reply with a compliment for this boy, who wore outfits that were very different and unique. His compliments were not generic. They were genuine. Liamm wanted to make his day, and I'm sure he did. His character spoke for itself. He didn't allow others to sit alone. He befriended those in need. He connected with others. He made a difference to others and we were so blessed to have him as a student. Liamm was also known as a great listener, and during this week when his sister Tarrah needed someone to talk to, she realized that who she really needed was Liamm. He was dearly loved. He dearly loved others, and he will be dearly missed. hhhhh Funeral services for Liamm will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Mount Airy chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 7255 Ridge Road, Mount Airy, Md.
