Leroy Claggett Stull of Poplar Springs, Howard County passed away, July 8, 2016 at Lorien, Mt. Airy, Born in Howard County March 15, 1931 . Married Jane (Fleming) Stull September 20, 1952. Mr. Stull worked as a young teen at area farms and farmed for Charles Fleming until farm was sold. He also worked part time jobs at community farm shops. When farm was sold in 1964, worked temporary area jobs then in the plumbing field in late 1964, for several plumbers and retired from Vansant Plumbing in 1998. Leroy was very active in the community, attended Poplar Springs United Methodist Church and Sunday School regularly, was President of Trustees for many years doing lots of repair work. Worked with Youth on Camp Hope Mission Team, Poplar Springs Cemetery Association Board, doing lots of maintenance. Mr. Stull worked with Boy Scout Troop 882 from 1959, was an Explorer Advisor, Committee Member, Assistant Scoutmaster and served as Scoutmaster for 30 years and Chartered representative until 2016. He received the Scouter Key, District Awards, Order of the Arrow, Wood Badge and the National Council distinguished service to youth Silver Beaver Award. Leroy’s name is on the BSA Baltimore Area Council National Pike Honor Roll. He was on the board of Poplar Springs Community Hall Association, Inc. since 1965 (Meeting hall of Troop 882). Mr. Stull was a faithful member of Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company for 63 years, serving on various committees and offices and attended many classes. He was on the Top Responder List for many years. He was Inducted in Howard County Volunteer Fire Association Hall of Fame. Honored by the Glenwood Lions Club with “ Bill Pindell Community Service Award” Howard County 4-H volunteer for 38 years as a local, county and state volunteer, Inducted in Howard County and Maryland 4-H All Stars. Leroy enjoyed camping, and traveling, family get-togethers, especially family camping trips. Survied by wife Pearl Jane (Fleming) Stull of 63 years. In addition to his wife he is survivied by his 5 children Richard Stull, Donna Haugh and husband David, David Stull and wife Stephanie, Kenneth Stull and wife Angie, Laura Reifsnider and Husband Clint. Grandchildren Jeffrey stull wife Holly, Brian Haugh, Jennifer Holmes husband Chad, Kyle Stull, Steven Stull, Kayla, Isabella and Emma Reifsnider; great-grandchildren Haley, Brayden, and Delaney Stull and Ryan Holmes. Also survivied by his step-granddaughter Christy Purdum and Step great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Makayla and Joseph Purdum. A very special brother-in-law Howard Fleming and wife Norma, Mineral, VA and a sister-in-law Doris Keen and husband Ralph, Greensboro, NC. Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter-in-law Donna Stull Family to receive friends Monday July 11, 2016 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784(Beside South Carroll High School) from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a service at 7 by the Lisbon VFD. Funeral service will be Tuesday at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church 915 E Watersville Rd, Mount Airy, MD 21771 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to Poplar Springs UM Church 1878 Woodbine Rd, Woodbine, MD 21797 or Lisbon Vol. Fire Co. (New Firehouse fund) P.o. Box 40 Lisbon, MD 21765.
