He leaves behind his daughter Kara Nicole Gasper, grandchildren Alycia and Jared and leaves behind his son Adrian L. Gumpert; all residence of Westminster MD. Daniel lived in Sykesville for the past 18 years and was a craftsman of a rare talent designing and inlaying peice by peice & and hand carving custom one of a kind rugs. Daniels talent for the craft left him in a class all his own. Daniel was recognized and featured in the Baltimore Sun and Carroll County Times for his mastery of custom designed rugs; In the late 1990's, he was asked to design the custom rug work for the United States Naval Academy of Annapolis MD. Aside from Daniels passion his greatest achievement in life was being a father. He leaves behind heart filled memories of days spent with his children as well as his nieces Marisha and Michelle and Nephews Andrew, Mathew and Buddy. He worked hard and believed anything in life worth having, is worth working hard for. In his free time you found him with his guitar in hand playing anything heard from his ear, but his favorite was bluegrass... Daniel played the guitar effortlessly and made playing a 12 string look easy. This was surely his Zen... Aside from his other many creative abilities Daniel also loved to read, learn and educate himself. Dan exposed himself and his children to books as often as possible and in doing so became a wealth of knowledge. Daniel was a man of many words but kept a small circle of friends to whom he'd dispense them. All he has come to learn of life by way of books, but mostly by way of his own experiences; of that circle Daniel was particularly fond of long time friend Johnathon Herman and Dan Leidig, both Sykesville residence. In more recent years he also developed friendships with Nicole Gasper and Mike Watson of Westminster MD, and last his newest and very cherished friend Kammy of Connecticut. Daniels daughter Kara carries with her in spirit the words of her father said to her often and were words Daniel Wade Gasper truly lived by, quoted from Rabi Hillel; "'If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, then what am I ? And if not now, when."
