Venson Edgar Simmons “Vinny” born on October 13th, 1957 to George and Cynthia Simmons. Venson passed away on June 10th, 2016 at the Sussman House in Rockland after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Vinny grew up in Cushing and was educated locally. He was state champion of his freshman year in gymnastics. He graduated from Georges Valley High School. After school, Vinny went on scalloping out of New Bedford, he was a jack of all trades. He was the stern man for many local fishermen. He was also a clam digger, carpenter, and whatever else he could find. He had an adventurous life. He enjoyed all his good times with his many many buddies. He loved to go hunting and fishing. Music was another love of his. You could always find Vinny doing a little yodel, and playing the guitar. He loved to have visits with family, and he loved his family very much. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. Vinny is preceded in death by his children Arnold in March of 2005 and Heather in May 2005. His infant grand daughter Shanda M. Page. Grandparents George Sr and Margurite Simmons and Raymond and Sylvia Ames as well as nephew Anthony Simmons. He is survived by his parents George Jr. and Cynthia Simmons of Cushing. Son Shawn Simmons of Rockland. Grand daughters Teagan and Hannah Simmons and Julia Page. Grandsons Jesse Page and Cayden Simmons. Brother Doyle Simmons and his wife Lisa of Rockland. Sister Valerie Blazek and her husband Michael of Cushing. Special Friend Aimee Faulkingham and her son Gage. His beloved dog Savage. Many niece’s, nephew’s, cousin’s, Aunt’s, Uncle’s as well as too many friends to name. The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the Sussman House staff for their amazing compassion and kindness during this rough time. A graveside service will be held on Saturday June 18th at 10am at the Harbor View Cemetery in Friendship Maine. Reverend Bob Dorr will be officiating. There will be a reception to follow. Hall’s of Waldoboro has care of the arrangements.
