Thelma Overlock

Thelma Prior Overlock passed away July 30, 2016 at Windward Gardens in Camden. She was born May 4, 1928 in Friendship to Crosby and Ruth (Carter) Prior. Thelma attended schools in Friendship and Thomaston. She married Charles Overlock II on January 18, 1947 in New Harbor. She raised a family with five children. She also babysat other children for many years, worked as a cook at the Frank D. Rowe School in Warren, as an assistant in nursing homes in Florida and as a factory worker for Dictaphone. Thelma received her first driver’s license at the age of 51, and shortly after she and Charlie moved to Florida. They continued to spend their summers in Maine. Thelma enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed going for rides and spending time with her family at the family camp on North Pond in Warren. She was a correspondent for the Courier Gazette and started the Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department in Warren. She would often times have coffee and sandwiches ready for the Firemen following a fire. Thelma was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughter Vera Marshall; sister Blanche Fullerton; and brother Edwin Prior. She is survived by: her son Myron Overlock of Warren; daughter Linda Winstead of Rockland; son Eric Overlock and his wife Patricia of Warren; daughter Winona Rich and her husband Jim of Warren; sister Doris Rusgrove of Bogart, GA; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2016 and Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro. A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Sawyer Cemetery in Warren. Donations may be made in Thelma’s name to: Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department, c/o Town of Warren, 157 Western Road, Warren, Maine 04864. Hall’s of Waldoboro has care of the arrangements.
