Janet Faulkingham

Janet Elaine Faulkingham, 79, passed away at the Knox Center, Rockland, Maine, surrounded by her family on August 3, 2016. Janet was born in Belfast, Maine on January 24, 1937 to Walter Curtis and Erma Pelkey Curtis. She grew up in Cushing and graduated from Thomaston High School in 1955. The day after graduation she married Donald Faulkingham at his parents’ home in Friendship. Janet worked at a woolen mill in Warren and then for Sylvania for 25 years until her retirement in 1992. She was an animal lover, especially her dog, loved travelling, square dancing, singing, camping in Jonesport and in the Greenville area, 4th of July, and Christmas. She kept in touch with many of her childhood friends. Janet was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Methodist Church of Friendship and the Cushing Grange. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Everyone loved her, including her nurses, who she appreciated very much. Janet is predeceased by her parents, husband, Donald Faulkingham, grandson Norman Benner, Jr., great grandson Haydin Benner and her sister Janice Brown. She is survived by son, Lyle Faulkingham, daughters Dale Orne and husband Michael, Dawn Benner and husband Norman, Teresa Gamage all of Friendship; grandchildren, Marie Turner, Melissa Orne, Kimberly Simmons, Mark Millay, Stephanie Millay and Jared Faulkingham; great grandchildren, Chloe Winchenbach, Wesley Turner, Dylan Davis, Madison Greenrose, Reanna Stoutt, Isaiah Orne and Nicholas Millay; brother-in-law David Faulkingham, sister-in-laws Louise Hawkins and Gloria Luce, special lifetime friend Lois Faulkingham, special cousin Doris Kinney, numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the nurses on the skilled unit of the Knox Center for their loving care. Donations may be made in Janet’s name to the American Diabetes Association, 445 Forest Avenue, Portland, Maine 04101 and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro from 5-7 PM. A celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Friendship.
