Millinocket – Robert E. Young, Sr., 80, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 13, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born October 7, 1935 in Millinocket, the son of Norman Bragg and Mable Young. Robert was a veteran of the Army and the National Guard. He loved bowling on the men’s league and coaching softball. He was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics. Robert will be missed by all who knew him. Robert is survived by his wife Mary (Sargent) Young of Millinocket; six children, Norman Young of Millinocket, Robert Young, Jr., of Santa Ana, California, Tina Young of Homeland, CA, Joseph Young of Old Town, Donna Young of Millinocket, and Brian of Michigan; a special granddaughter, Nicole Cote of Ellsworth; three step children, Edward McLay of Alabama, Kenneth McLay of Orono, and Kimberly McLay of Mississippi; sisters Kay Bouchard, Nadine Bazzie, and Isabelle Daniels; a brother Herbert “Sonny” Young, Sr.; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Hatti and Frances, and the mother of his children and first wife, Cecile (Thibodeau) Young. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the health care workers who took such loving care of Robert and allowed him to stay at home. Friends are invited to visit with the family 4:30 – 6 P.M. Friday, June 17 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will be held at 6 P.M. with Francis Megno officiating.
