Priscilla Barker

East Millinocket – Priscilla “Diddy” Picard Barker passed away peacefully on May 31, 2016, surrounded by family, after a long illness. She was born April 29, 1934 in Millinocket, the fifth child of Allan and Jessie (Russell) Picard. After graduating from Stearns High School in 1951, she worked at J.J. Newberry’s in Millinocket. She then stayed at home for several years to raise her ten children. Diddy became one of the first women to work at the Great Northern Paper Company in East Millinocket. She retired after 20 years of service. Diddy is survived by her children, Nancy Scully and husband Jeff of Saco, Jan Waite of Bath, Billie Farley and husband Russell of Milford, Allan Waite of Bath, Kent Waite and fiancé Gay Dickinson of East Millinocket, Leslie Waite of Baileyville, Ross Waite, Jr. and Jamey Barker of East Millinocket; a step daughter, Gilda Stratton of Millinocket; siblings Jack Picard and wife Doreen of Millinocket, and Jane Picard of Florence, Massachusetts; 19 grandchildren, Jordan, Abbey, Hannah, Kaley, Kristy, Wilson, Ryan, Jessica, Angela, Aaron, Traci, Faith, Karlie, Ariana, Taylor, Nick, Bethany, Jon, and Kristine; 11 great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Kendall, Chase, Jude, Ava, Emma, Hanna, Cody, Kennedy, Dylan, and Lyla; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Diddy was predeceased by four sisters, Janice Tasker, Ann Carter, Rosie Clark, and Lorraine Caruso; two brothers, Mickey and Terry Picard; husbands Billy Waite in 1967 and Henry Barker in 2009; and sons Shane Waite in 1991 and Robbie Waite in 2014. Diddy was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. Her family would like to thank the staff of Sweet Seniors, Colonial Health Care, and Winship Green for helping to care for Diddy in her later years. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Friday, June 3 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket, where a Celebration of Diddy’s Life will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, June 4. Gifts in memory of Diddy may be sent to the The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714, or to the charity of one’s choice.
