Medway – Paul I. Burleigh, Sr. 69, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at a Millinocket hospital. He was born January 10, 1947 in Jackson, the son of Wallace and Marie (Dow) Burleigh. Paul was an employee at Great Northern Paper Company in East Millinocket for over nearly 40 years before retiring. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, both deep sea and in the fresh waters of Maine. He also enjoyed hunting and camping. Paul was a “Snowbird” for many years, spending his winters in Florida where he enjoyed playing horseshoes and riding in his golf cart. He loved spending time with his family, who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his “special lady” of 16 years, Nancy Dias of Medway; four children, Billie Jo Davenport and her husband Eric of Clifton, Paul Burleigh, Jr. and his wife Maryann of Medway Lisa Gillo of Frankfort, and Eugene Clark and his wife Diane of Titusville, Florida; five siblings, John Burleigh, Sr. of Medway, Wallace Burleigh, Jr. and Julie Voisine of Kingman, Henry Burleigh of Bangor, Susan LaPorte and her husband Kenneth of Medway, and Penny LaPorte and her husband Eugene of Medway; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by a brother, David Burleigh, Sr., and an infant sister, June Marie Burleigh. Graveside services will be held 1 P.M. Friday, August 26 at the Grindstone Road Cemetery in Medway with the Rev. Tim Bossie officiating. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
