Millinocket—Marjorie S. Pinette, 94, died Monday June 27 at a Dover-Foxcroft health care facility. Marjorie was born in Millinocket on May 15, 1922, the daughter of Alexander and Vera Wallace Simpson. She was a 1939 graduate of Stearns High School and a 1942 graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. Marjorie was a lifelong member of the Millinocket Baptist Church, where she served as organist for nearly 70 years. She also taught piano for many years in Millinocket. She worked for a number of years as a ward clerk at the Millinocket Community Hospital. She was active in the Millinocket Philharmonic Society and served as an accompanist for the Millinocket Players. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bob in 1969, and her only brother, Kenneth, in 1977. She is survived by her three children, Roberta Laverty of Milo, Margaret Pinette of Milo, and Tim Pinette and wife Trissa Otto of South Portland; by five grandchildren, Emily Laverty and husband Shawn Hale of Champaign, IL, Daniel Laverty and wife Jessica of Medford, Elizabeth and husband Joe Putelis of Auburn, MA, Nina Pinette of Grand Junction, CO, and Alex Pinette of Portland; and two great-grandchildren, Kaya Laverty of Medford and Nathaniel Putelis of Auburn, MA. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Visitation will be at the Millinocket Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 5, from noon until the funeral service at 2:00. Interment will follow at the Millinocket Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Millinocket Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
