Lorena Powers Obituary

East Millinocket – Lorena J. Powers, 91, wife of the late Chester Powers, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016. She was born December 7, 1924 in Lincoln, the daughter of George R. and Lida A. (Gordon) Curtis. Lorena grew up in Lincoln, and attended schools there. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed travelling, gardening, fishing, camping, and playing cards and dice. Lorena was 6th in a family of 12 children, and her greatest enjoyment was spending time visiting with members of her large family and wide circle of friends. She is survived by two sons, Raymond Powers, and Bill Powers and his wife Jackie, all of East Millinocket; three grandchildren, Samantha and Nicole Powers, and Charles Hannan, Jr.; a son in law, Charles Hannan of Baltimore, Maryland; three siblings, Mary Parsons of Lincoln, Vicky Knights and her husband Edwin of Brookton, and Gordon Curtis of Bangor; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lorena will also be missed by her Best Friend and neighbor, Fayette Austin. In addition to her parents and her husband, Lorena was predeceased by a daughter, Sally Hannan; a grandson, Scott Hannan; and siblings Glendine, Decima, Peggy, Joyce, George, Frank, Calvin, and Newton. Friends are invited to visit with the family 12-2 P.M. Wednesday, September 7 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Avenue, East Millinocket, where funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., officiated by Pastor Sylvia McGibbon. Interment will be at the East Millinocket Cemetery.
