Medway – Lawrence A. “Larry” McLaughlin, 72, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at Midmaine Hospital in Portland. He was born April 19, 1944 in Medway to Lawrence and Mazie (McLeod) McLaughlin. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. For a short period, he worked for the Great Northern Paper Company before venturing out to work for himself doing construction, carpentry, and skidder operations. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, staying in his camp in Salmon Stream, riding the woods roads while maintaining his memorial of love for his niece, Rhonda “Roni” Severance Thompson, and spending time with his family. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the most important things in his life. Larry is survived by two daughters Paula Pray and her husband Mark, and Lauri McLaughlin and her fiancé Charles Stanley; three grandchildren, Rachel Perley and her husband Shawn, Cody Stanley, and Melinda McLaughlin; four great grandchildren, Abby, Marcus, Morgan, and Autumn; three sisters, Marilyn Ward, Lorna Severance, and Glenda Hale; a brother, Galen McLaughlin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry will also be missed by a special friend, Jackie Birmingham, and his good friends, Duane Davis, Dwayne “Whitey” Davenport, and Lauren Tozier. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Janice Stewart and brother Carroll McLaughlin. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Grindstone Cemetery with the Rev. Regginal Adams officiating.
