Elizabeth Ann Adams Obituary

Fayette- Elizabeth Ann Adams, 80, of 201 Baldwin Hill Road, Fayette, passed away in the comfort of her home, early Sunday morning, July 17th, 2016. Betty was born in Livermore Falls on November 28, 1935, the daughter of Thomas and Effie Demont. She was educated in the schools of Livermore Falls, and was a 1954 graduate of LFHS. While in school, she was a member of the Drama Club and a member and officer of the Future Homemakers of America. She was a cheerleader and also recalled with fondness after her after-school job as a soda jerk at the Corner Drug Store. Over the years Betty was employed at Livermore Falls Trust Co., Livermore Falls Shoe Co., Franklin Savings Bank, B & B Bottle Club, The Village Inn Restaurant, Town of Fayette and worked at Dr. Gashgai’s. She married Bob Adams on May 15, 1976, and they have been residents of Fayette for many years. In addition to raising her three children and other family members, Betty and Bob have provided a home for Rick Mitchell for 41 years. She loved her family passionately. Betty was always one to come to aide of anyone in need, had been involved in a local neighborhood-helping neighbor groups, the historical society, as well as other local organizations. She was the founder of the Maine Head Injury Foundation after her daughter Tammy was severely injured in a tragic accident. During the holidays, Betty would cook for all the nurses, aides, and housekeeping staff at the nursing home. Betty was an avid bluegrass music fan, and taught herself to play the guitar. She lived her life with zest and vigor, and who could ever forget her shenanigans at the pickin’ parties. Her bigger-than-life smile, and genuine love of people endeared her to all. She was an excellent cook, and whenever there was a gathering, she brought enough food to feed a crowd. She was especially known for her casseroles, whoopee pies and raspberry squares. The family would like to thank the people of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the care they gave Betty. A special thanks to Patty Parker, RN. Thanks, too, to our good friends Becky and Dickie Pelletier, Barry and Lori Beth (Double Trouble with Betty) Bonnevie, Diane and Pudgy Rines, Roger and Carol Bemis, as well as a multitude of other friends and neighbors. Betty is survived by her husband Bob of Fayette, her sister Marilyn of Lewiston, her children Prudy and partner Ray of Canton, Tammy of Lewiston and Kirt of Eustis, a step-daughter Karen, foster son Rick; grandchildren, Jonathan and his partner Leslie, MaryJane, Kegan, Starlyn, Blair, Christopher and Jesse; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Aleyah and Zach; and her nieces and nephews.
