Kennebunk, ME and Ft. Myers, FL Frank J. Galos, 90 years young, a very well known Chevrolet and Cadillac dealer, passed away Thursday May 8, 2014 in Fort Myers, FL with his loving family by his side. Frank was born in Yonkers, New York on Nov 17, 1923, a son of Frank J and Nellie (Gwizdak) Galos. He graduated from Fordham High School in Yonkers, New York and went on to receive his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from New York University. After college, Frank served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he married his sweetheart, Joan (Peterson) Galos in 1955 and moved to Kennebunk, Maine where they raised their family. Frank opened the family business in 1960, a car dealership “Frank Galos Chevrolet and Cadillac” of Saco. Frank absolutely loved his work. He enjoyed the friendly people and earned multiple awards during his career. The dealership has been in business for over 54 years. Frank considered his employees his second family. He and all of his employees had a mutual respect and admiration for each other. Frank was often found lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Frank was loved by all. Frank wintered in Ft. Myers for over thirty years. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish at St Martha’s Church of Kennebunk. Frank loved his family and his dogs very much. He was a sensational father, a loving and devoted husband and a marvelous grandfather. Frank had a huge heart and a very loving personality. He will be missed very, very much by all. Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan Peterson Galos who died in 2009, his beloved daughters Susan Galos Eason (1985) and Nancy Galos Safford (2013) and his sister Blanche Galos (2009). He is survived by two sons J. Scott Galos of Windham, ME and Mark C. Galos of Saco and five grandchildren: Demetri, Emily, Parker, Dylan and Deven . There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Friday at Holy Spirit Parish Church at St Martha’s Church Portland Road Kennebunk, Maine with Reverend Thomas Murphy officiating. Frank will be laid to rest beside his wife and his two daughters at Hope Cemetery with Military Honors . In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be donations to Animal Refuge Center, 18011 Old Bay Shore Road, Fort Myers, FL 33917 in Frank’s memory.
