WALTERS, Thelma Louise, 77, of Louisville, passed away August 21, 2016, after 58 years of marriage. She passed away peacefully in her husband’s loving arms with all three of their sons present. Born in Louisville, the former Thelma Owen graduated from Shawnee High School and retired after several years from JCPS Board of Education, worked at H&R Block doing tax preparation, and was a member of Derby City Mustang Club and a deacon of St. Matthews Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Joe Walters; sons, Joe Walters (Lorrie), Martin Walters (Stephanie) and David Walters; and grandchildren, Jay, Shelby and Lacy Walters. Thelma’s funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 25, 2016 at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Avenue, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, and from 11:00am until time of service Thursday, at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Matthews Baptist Church Reimagine Fund.
