Mike O'Bryan

O’BRYAN, Mike, 69, of Louisville, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, after complications from an accident. Born in Louisville, Mike completed several careers, however he was most widely known throughout Harrods Creek as the always friendly and humorous bartender at Chick Inn, and most recently the “Pickle Man”, the founder and creator of Mike O’Bryan’s Bloody Mary Pickles. Mike deeply loved his family and was so very proud of each of his children and their accomplishments in life. He loved thoroughbred racing and all the friends he made on the backside at Churchill Downs, cruising in the Caribbean, Sunday night family dinners at Los Aztecas Mexican Restaurant, and living life to its fullest potential. Mike was preceded in death by his father, James; first wife, Donna; and 2 sisters, Dorothy and Angela. He is survived by his wife, Donna O’Bryan; children, Mike O’Bryan, Jr. (Angie), Patrick O’Bryan (Jill), Angela Bennett, Joe O’Bryan (Suzy), Jenny O’Bryan (Renee) and Jessica Bergman (Matt); mother, Helen O’Bryan; siblings, Libby Mitchell, Jimmy O’Bryan, Sherry Bennett and Patty Volk; and grandchildren, Jessica, Dustin, Taylor, Shane, Kelsey, Chad, Sean, Chandler, Conner, Devin, Cate, and Gus; many nieces and nephews and hundreds of friends from every walk of life. Mike’s funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the kind and caring doctors, nurses and staff at Kindred Hospital, for the care given to Mike during the past months and the compassion shown to our family. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
