Mayme Carpenter Powell, 92, of Nina Ridge Rd. in Lancaster, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Danville Center for Health and Rehab.

Mayme was born in Jackson County to the late Anderson and Annie B. Carpenter. She was a homemaker and a member of the holiness faith.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one son Delbert Lee Powell, and five siblings Glendon, Coleman, Vincent, Allison and Hazel Lee Carpenter.

She is survived by her husband Leslie Powell, three children Leon Powell, Donald (Cathy) Powell, and Billy (Jessie) Powell; four brothers, Luther Carpenter, Broaddus “Cron” Carpenter, James Carpenter and Newt Carpenter; two sisters Marie Powell and Zada Naylor; four grandchildren Dwight Powell, Michelle Peel, Connie Scott and Whitney Powell; three step grandchildren Chad Doan, Michelle Hill and Jeff Alcorn; five great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with Bro. Leonard Wilder officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.
