John Russell Harrison

John Russell Harrison, 95, passed away at his home Sunday, August 14, 2016. He was born on September 9, 1920 to the late Howard H. and Chaney Burns Harrison. He had been a truck driver, owner and operator of the Bluegrass Truck Stop, and had hauled water and lime. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in England during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Bryant Harrison, and three children: Taunya Riddell (Mike), Barry Harrison, and Sue Farthing. He was a grandfather to Bryan Thomas Farthing, who passed away in 2004, and to Cashin Riddell Yiu (Whitney). John is also survived by a brother, Phillip Harrison (Fanny). Funeral services for John Russell Harrison will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the White Lick Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Robinson Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Bobby Anglin, Eddie Jennings, Harold David Eden, Jeremy Gilbert, Mayard Mayton, and Tom Mosier. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Hammonds, Wendy Pitts, John Cope, Bart Harrison, John Harrison and Steve Bryant. The family expresses their thanks to the Veteran’s Hospital, Hospice Care Plus, and to caregiver Kathy Spillman.
