Marie Cobb Venable, 90, of Rockcastle County, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Marie was born in Rockcastle County to the late James and Laura Ballinger Gatliff. She was a homemaker, she was a quilter and made many quilts over the years and an avid gardener. She loved to feed her family and friends with her garden. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she also preceded in death by her first husband Burnam C. Cobb and second husband Richard E. Venable; four children Rosetta Cobb, Phyllis Cobb Burdette, Carl Curtis Cobb and Kenneth Ray Cobb; and four siblings Luther and Delbert Gatliff, Myrtle Rice and Hazel Gatliff.

She is survived by her children James (Paula) Cobb and Eva (Mike) Jean Gay; two step children Pat (Jerry) Roper and Kenneth Venable; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, July 4, 2016 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Cobb Anglin Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Scott Burdette, Kenny Cobb, Chris Cobb, Jay Cobb, Brian Brown and John Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons.
