Stella E. Glennon, 84, of Atchison KS died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Monday, Aug. 8th, 2016, at Sacred Heart Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal.OSB as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, south of Atchison. A parish rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 7th, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Benedictine Sisters, St. Benedict’s Catholic Grade School or St. Benedict’s Abbey and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com. Stella E. Wagner was born on Nov. 17, 1931 in the St. Pat’s Community, the daughter of Lawrence M. and Juliana (Mayr) Wagner. She graduated from Mt. St. Scholastica Academy in 1949. Stella worked as an assistant to Dr. Charles Brady, where she met the man she would marry, Louis Glennon. The Glennon’s owned and operated several car service stations from 1958-1971 and Town & Country Tire Supply from 1971 until Louie retired and their son Dan took over the business in 1993. Stella was the bookkeeper for all the businesses. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church, where she was an Altar Society member. She and Louie were faithful participants in the parish perpetual adoration and they were also Road to Recovery volunteers. Stella was a member of the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary; serving on both the Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship Committee and craft group. While the children were growing up she was active in PTA and Scouts, faithfully attending all the children’s sporting and school activities. Foremost Stella was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed traveling to visit family and having family come back home. Stella was married to Louis M. “Louie” Glennon on June 9, 1952 and celebrated 57 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 10th, 2009. Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Glennon, Kansas City, MO, four sons, Chris Glennon, Pensacola, FL, Dan (Karen) Glennon, Atchison, KS ,Ken (Katie) Glennon, Topeka, KS, and Steve Glennon, Washington, KS, a brother, Lawrence J. Wagner, Kansas City, KS., four grandchildren, Christopher (Sheri), Kevin, Carly and Sam Glennon, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband Louie, and two sisters, Sr. Rose Marie Wagner, and Sr. Delores Wagner preceded her in death.
