Virgil Dean Tokheim Obituary

Virgil Dean Tokheim, the son of A. Martin and Elsie (Payne) Tokheim, was born March 27, 1928, in Swea City, Iowa. He died on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Bancroft, Iowa at the age of 88.

He received his education at Grant Consolidated School and graduated in 1946.

On October 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Reva Work in Riceville, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple raised their family and farmed near Swea City until Virgil retired. For hobbies, Virgil enjoyed traveling, visiting with his family and friends and collecting antique machinery. He especially enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church in Swea City and a member of the Farm Bureau.

Left to cherish Virgil's memory are his wife of 68 years, Reva of Swea City; four children, Tom (Ivon) Tokheim of Buffalo Center, Iowa; Dave (Joy) Tokheim of Osceola, Iowa; Kathy (Phil) Stallone of Carol Stream, Illinois; Steve (Robin) Tokheim of Swea City; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brothers, William (Caroline) Tokheim of Belvedere, Texas; Gene Tokheim of Des Moines, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

He has been preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, June and brother, Phillip.
