Ruby Jeanette Jentz, 91 of Fenton peacefully passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Ia.

Ruby, daughter of Chris & Katie (Rinkenberger) Alt was born December 30, 1924. She grew up in the Algona area. She was baptized December 22, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. She married Henry “Hank” Scheppman in 1946. He passed away 1950. January 13, 1954 she married Mervin Jentz in Las Vegas.

She was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church for 50 years.

Ruby was the youngest of 10 siblings. She helped her parents on the farm and worked at Maid Rite Coffee Shop in Algona. After her marriage she & Mervin resided in Fenton, Seneca farm and Burt where they worked for Welp’s Hatchery in Bancroft for many years. After retirement they moved to Seneca. After Mervin’s death Ruby moved to Fenton. In her 80’s she worked at the Fenton Library. She enjoyed spending time there with her card and coffee buddies. After a very active 91 years Ruby’s health started to decline and she moved to Le Mars to be closer to her family.

Ruby was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to sew, fish, garden, do puzzles, play cards, go to the casino and visit family and friends. She enjoyed going to the North Star in Fenton.

Survivors include one son, Joel (Genise) of Le Mars. Two daughters Colleen Follman (Doug) of Latimer and Lori Nowak (Ron) of Ottawa, IL.

She had 9 grandchildren, Troy Follman (Petra), Joshua Follman (Sandy), Ben Follman (Nicole), Amy Jentz, Heidi Jentz, Lindsey Norem (Jason), Alex Nowak (Laura), Sarah Lane (Zac), Aaron Jentz. 7 great granchildren and one great great grandchild and many step-granchildren. One Brother-in-law, Harold Lampe, Burt. And many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mervin and one son Jeff. Brothers Melvin, Harry, Elmer and Larry Alt. Sisters Esther Wibben, Minnie Speth, Pearl Gerber, Dorothy Lampe and Evelyn Greinert.
