A come and go memorial gathering will be held at the Lodge at Fort Defiance State Park in Estherville from 1 until 6 p.m., Sunday, October 2nd.<br><br> Robert Eugene Cooklin was born on September 7, 1946 to Marvin and Irene (Kinnard) Cooklin in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 70.<br><br> He received his education in the Armstrong schools, graduating from Armstrong High School in 1964. Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Staff Sergeant for 8 years.<br><br> During his life, Bob lived all over the world from Estherville and Maple Hill to England and Holland. He was an great golfer and cook and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Bob also donated generously to support cancer research.<br><br> Left to cherish Bob's memory is his daughter, Stacey Montgomery; grandsons, Brad and Zach Montgomery; siblings, Marlene (Ron) Smith of Florida; Rene Vogel of Texas; Doug (Charlene) Cooklin of Iowa; Rhonda (Gary) Hansen of Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend Ginger Cooklin Fortescue of Iowa.<br><br> He has been preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Irene and his brother, Gerald.<br>

Robert Eugene Cooklin was born on September 7, 1946 to Marvin and Irene (Kinnard) Cooklin in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 70.

He received his education in the Armstrong schools, graduating from Armstrong High School in 1964. Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Staff Sergeant for 8 years.
