Richard Dean Petersen

Richard Dean Petersen, the son of Malvin and Christina (Christ) Petersen was born January 3, 1938, in Estherville, Iowa. Richard passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016, at his home in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 78.

He received his education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School. He later attended Buena Vista College.

On July 28, 1963, he was united to Karen Jean Carey. Richard taught History and Government and coached football and basketball at Allison, Alburnett and Paton-Churdan, Iowa. Richard later worked for the City of Estherville. For hobbies, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, ham radio, watching the Twins, Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Richard's memory is his wife, Karen of Estherville; two sons, Chris Petersen of Estherville and Eric Petersen of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and brother, Robert Petersen and his wife, Jenny of Arnolds Park, Iowa.
