Glen was born to Albert & Ellen (Hagestrom) Lundgren on March 24, 1918 near Silver Lake, Iowa. As a young man he spent his days with his brothers working on the family farm near Graettinger, Iowa.

Glen attended Walnut Grove School in Rural Graettinger thru the 8th grade and then attended Graettinger High School graduating in May of 1936. After graduating from High School he farmed with his brothers until 1941 when he joined the Army. On June 10, 1944 Glen participated in the invasion of France landing at Omaha Beach. He was in battle for thirty (30) days until receiving injury from shrapnel. He was discharged from the Army in 1946 receiving the Purple Heart.

After serving the United States in WWII Glen returned to Iowa where he continued his passion for farming. Glen met the love of his life, Marvis and said “I Do” on June 8, 1947. Glen and Marvis spent the next sixty five years together laughing, smiling and holding hands.

Glen was the kind of person who could fix or make anything. He was never hard to find because he never ventured far from his shop. Although he was a hard worker he always had time to share a cup of coffee and share a good story.

Glen and Marvis spent their retirement years traveling the United States. They spent winters in various spots in Florida until they finally found their true calling as “Winter Texans”. They spent twenty-five warm and happy winters in Mission. Glen continued his “handy work” in Texas volunteering his time building homes for the less fortunate. Glen passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016.

Left to cherish Glen’s memory are his children; Son Wade (Deb) Lundgren of Emmetsburg, Daughter Sarah (Al) Fothergill of Ringsted, his grandchildren Todd (Lisa) Lundgren, Tracie Schulz, Ryan (Peg) Lundgren, Ehren Lundgren (Tricia) Brandon Lundgren (Allison) Lee (Emily) Fothergill, Ruby Fothergill, Michael (Kathy) Gilchrist, fifteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marvis, son Max and all his siblings.
