Evelyn Joyce (Schultz) Behrens, the daughter of Arthur and Elsa (Tangeman) Schultz, was born November 3, 1924, in Osceola, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 91.

She received her education in the Sibley, Iowa, schools, graduating from Sibley High School. After graduation from high school, Evelyn attended the Lutheran School of Nursing.

On October 31, 1945, Evelyn was united in marriage to Ben Behrens in Sibley. The couple made their home in Sibley where they began raising their family and Evelyn was a homemaker and also employed at the Sibley Hospital as a nurse. Later the family made their home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, then Marshfield, Wisconsin where she was employed at the Marshfield Clinic and Hospital. Later they moved to Elk Creek, Missouri and she worked at the Exceptional Child Education Coop. In July of 1999, the couple moved to Estherville to make their home. Ben died March 20, 2008.

Evelyn was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville and VFW Post 3388 Auxiliary.

Left to cherish Evelyn's memory are, her children, Linda Converse of Springfield, Missouri; Bruce Behrens of Marshfield; Timothy Behrens and his wife, Barbara of East Troy, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren, Kim McRae, Gregory, Jeffrey and Jason Converse, Tabitha Behrens, Isaac, Jacob and Lacey Behrens, Nicholas Behrens; ten great-grandchildren, Clarissa and Lonnie Shaw, Leslie Lois Nelson, Aurora and Benjamin Converse, Oscar Behrens, Isabella Converse, Brittany Converse, Cody Converse, Serenity Converse; brother-in-law, Alvin "Butch" Behrens and his wife, Arlene of Estherville; sister-in-laws, Irene Groote of Spencer; and Verdella Igou of San Jose, California and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Evelyn has been preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Gene Schultz; daughter, Roxanne McRae, grandson, Steven Behrens and son-in-law, Fred Converse.
