Alice Hartman

Alice Anna (Petersen) Hartman, daughter of Warren and Jensena (Nielsen) Petersen, was born on December 13, 1913 in Bode, Iowa. When she was two years old her family moved to the rural Estherville area. She attended a rural country school through 8th grade. Alice enjoyed helping her brother and family farm.<br><br>On March 5, 1958, she was united in marriage to Frank Homer Hartman in Spencer, Iowa. The couple farmed near Dunnell, Minnesota. Alice loved gardening and sewing. Frank passed away on January 14, 1971. Alice remained active on the farm raising cattle. Alice moved into Friendship Terrace Apartments in September of 1999 and remained there until she moved into Good Samaritan Center of Estherville in July of 2013. Alice passed away on October 16, 2016 at the age of 102 years.<br><br>Alice was a former member of the Huntington Church and currently an active member at Estherville Lutheran Church. She was also a member of Just a Dozen Club, Farmer Club of Dunnell, and Senior Citizen Center. She was also very active at the Dunnell Community Center.<br><br>She is survived by one nephew-in-law, Dr. James B. Summitt (MaryAnn) San Antonio; one niece, Marilyn Schnell (Darvin) Estherville; great nieces and nephews, Londa Israel, Lawrence, KS; James B. Summitt (Minna) Brooklyn, NY; Darci Borlin (Chris) St. Joseph, MI; Carrie Summitt San Antonio; Tara Pyawasit (Chet) Estherville; great-great nieces and nephews, Dylan Israel; Alysha Pettyjohn; Mckenna Pyawasit; Seth Israel; Landon Pyawasit; Derek Borlin; William Summitt; and 14 nieces and nephews on Franks side.<br><br>Her parents; husband, Frank; her brother, Leonard; her sister Alta Hartman; niece, Joanne Summit and a great-great nephew, Jeremy Borlin, precede her in death.<br>
