Paul Anthony Smith, formerly residing at 3510 Huntington Road, Marion, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28th at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin, Illinois, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Paul was born on November 7, 1927 in Marion, Indiana to the late Anthony “Tony” and Mary (Wilson) Smith. He married Patricia Ann Martin, and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2013. Paul was a pattern maker at Fisher Body for 35 years and past president of the Local Pattern Makers League. He enjoyed fishing in Alaska and Canada, boating, traveling, playing any type of card games and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Paul was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and loved the Indiana Pacers. He enjoyed spending time and reminiscing with his lifelong “Bucktown” buddies spinning stories of their youthful escapades. Paul was a lifetime member of the 9th Street United Methodist Church until its closing, and a long-time member of Grace Community Church. Paul is survived by his sons, Kevin P. Smith (Robin) of Elgin, Illinois and Rodney M. Smith (Debbie) of Keller, Texas; brother Noel W. Smith of Jupiter, Florida; grandchildren, Matthew K. Smith (Kathleen) of Naperville, Illinois, Jill T. (Smith) Schumacher (Stephen) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Auston Smith (13) of Keller, Texas, Harper Smith (11) of Keller, Texas, Kendall M. Smith (Christina) of Irving, Texas, Ross A. Smith of Irving, Texas, and Renessa VanCleave of Dallas, Texas; 6 great-grandchildren, Ryan Smith (17), Maggie Smith (15), Eileen Smith (12); Ella (7), & Kennedy (4) Schumacher and Collin M. Smith (5 months). Private Funeral Services will be held with entombment in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m Friday, July 1, 2016 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
