Margaret (Margot) Myers, aged 92, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson, Indiana. She was born on March 24, 1924, in Sunbury-on-Thames, England, to the late Cyril and Chryssa (Morris) Allsopp. She married Leo Myers on May 30, 1945, who preceded her in death in 1982. Margot served as a draftswoman in the Women’s Auxiliary Service (ATS) during WW II. She and Leo met when they were stationed together at Longford Castle in Salisbury, one of the staging areas for D-Day. She came to the United States as a war bride on the Queen Mary in 1946. She and Leo lived in Van Buren, Indiana, until they moved to Marion as co-owners of Myers Dairy Bars, Inc. in 1947. Margot became a naturalized U.S. Citizen in 1955. She attended Marion Business College and worked at Osborn Midwest as a switchboard operator. She also worked at The Paris, the women’s clothing store owned by Sam and Henry Fleck. She was a member of First Friends Church, Phi Chi Epsilon Sorority, PEO Sisterhood, Conversation Club, and multiple bridge clubs. She volunteered at Marion General Hospital as a “pink lady” for 23 years and delivered “Meals on Wheels” for 25 years. She also served on the board of the Marion Philharmonic Friends and the Hostess House. She is survived by a son, Bruce Myers (wife Cathy) of Cartersville, Georgia; a daughter, Sheryl Myers of Anderson, Indiana; two granddaughters, Lindsay (husband Colin) of Savannah, Ga., and Jessie (husband Marty) of Dallas, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren; Harper, Charley, and Carter. Margot was known for her love of family, friends, conversation, and bridge. Her outer beauty was surpassed only by her inner beauty. She had a special relationship with her calico cat, Sadie, her companion of 18 years. She was the consummate listener and loyal friend, and knew the proper etiquette for any occasion. She was an English lady. A celebration of her life will be held at First Friends Church, 2211 N. Wabash Avenue, with the Reverend Bob Garra officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, prior to the service that starts at 1:00 p.m..
