Joseph William Springer Obituary

Master Sergeant Joseph W. Springer, Sr. (Air National Guard, Ret.), age 74, of Hanover, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his residence. Born December 15, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of Joseph Herbert and June Springer. Mr. Springer graduated from Valley High School in Louisville and joined the US Air Force and Air National Guard. He moved to Madison in 1976 to become a range maintenance officer at the Jefferson Proving Ground, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. He also worked at Brown Williamson in Louisville, Boeing in Kansas, Madison Chemical, and Neihaus Mail Delivery. He worked on stock cars when he was younger and rode motorcycles most of his life. He was passionate about Ham Radio (call sign N9QHY) and communicated with people around the world. He will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Linda Ann Strasemeier, whom he married April 23, 1988 at the Clifty Falls State Park; his son, Joseph William Springer, Jr. of Louisville; his step-daughter, Lori Voris of Hanover; two step sons, Jeremy Voris and his wife, Jeannne of Hebron, Kentucky and Kevin Voris and his wife, Nancy of Madison; two sisters: Carol Purvis and her husband, Wayne of Crestwood, Kentucky and Marie Hornback and her husband, Merle of Sellersburg, Indiana; and nine grandchildren: Mary, Charles Joseph, Isys, Lee, Aarilyn, Dustin, Sylvia, Etana, and Garrett. The Reverend Frank McGee will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Saturday April 30, 2016 at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel with burial to follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may gather from 5 pm to 8 pm Friday, April 29, 2016 and after 10 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
