Fredrick D. Farley, age 71, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover. Born August 9, 1944 in Seattle, Washington, he was the son of Daniel Edward and Amanda Alois (Pavish) Farley. Mr. Farley was a graduate of the University of Washington, a teacher and writer in Seattle. He published three books and over 700 articles about boat racing, and was the hydroplane racing historian since 1973. After his retirement in 1999, he and his wife, Carol moved to Madison. He was a member of the Madison Regatta Board, a member of the Miss Madison Board where he served as secretary and attended Milton Baptist Church. Besides boat racing, he enjoyed collecting boat racing memorabilia and movies of all types. Survivors include his wife, Carol (Pearsall); his brother, Lawrence Thomas Farley of Clearwater, Florida; and his close and dear friends: Denny and Fritzi Jackson of Milton, Kentucky, Wayne Engle of Madison, Ron Harsin of Hanover, Indiana, Phil Haldemann and David Greene, both of Seattle, Ray Dong and Steve Garey, both of Detroit, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father in 1998 and his mother in 1992. Memorial services wil be conducted Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Milton Baptist Church, 10076 US 421, Milton, Kentucky. A second memorial will be held during the 2016 Madison Regatta and will be announced later. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Unlimited Hydroplane Museum in Seattle, C/O Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church or funeral home.
