Beverly Diane Smith Shepherd Downey, age 58, of North Vernon, Indiana, formerly of Madison, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus, Indiana. She was born July 4, 1957 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas S. and Lorene (Huff) Smith. Mrs. Downey loved to travel, shop, spend time with family and friends, and read her Bible. Survivors include one daughter: Beverly Gene Cope of Madison; two sons: Thomas M. Spitznogle of Peru, Indiana, and Richard K. Giltner of Lexington, Indiana; one sister, Peggy Sampson of Madison; her caregiver, Teresa Jenkins of North Vernon; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Main Street Chapel, with interment to follow in Lick Branch Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 10 AM until 12 Noon on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service.
