Samuel Hirschy

Samuel L. Hirschy, 22, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 as the result of a moped/semi accident at the intersection of Salem Rd and Hwy 33. Witnesses believe Sam’s view was obstructed by the sunlight after had made a complete stop. He was born on November 12, 1993, the son of Ronald G. and Sandy K. (Baker) Hirschy. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was an avid Cubs fan and loved the outdoors. He is survived by his parents, Ron & Sandy Hirschy of Decatur; companion, Angelica Rose Grogg and their son, Oliver both of Berne; grandparents, Phil & Sally Erxleben of Decatur; a brother, Scott “Bummer” (Gina) Hirschy of Angola; 2 sisters, Mandy Albertson and Abby (Scott) McLaughlin both of Decatur; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jodi Kay and grandparents, Bill & Millie Baker and Glen & Jean Hirschy. Visitation will be on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:15 p.m. Family is requesting that you please dress casual and wear Cubs or any sporting attire. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with calling 1 hour prior from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
