Gary D. Werst, 72, of Decatur, IN died on July 5, 2016 at Adams Memorial Hospital. Gary was born on November 30, 1943 in Decatur to the late Joby and Edna Arloa (DeBolt) Werst. On March 8, 1969 he married Barbara A.Williams. Gary worked for DANA on the production/assembly line. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #43 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid IU fan. Gary is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara A. Werst of Decatur; two sons, Scott D. (Caralee) Werst of Ossian and Brian D. (Kimberly) Werst of Lima, OH; a daughter, Tammi R. (Mitchal) Milholland of New Haven, IN; two brothers, Rex (Virginia) Werst of Celina, OH and Pat Werst of Decatur; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Werst of Berne; three grandchildren, Trevor Werst, Justin Werst and James Morlock. He was preceded in death by a son Jefferey D. Werst, a sister, Delores Burger and a brother, Arthur Werst. A Graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Decatur Cemetery with Military Graveside rites by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.
