Dale Hake Obituary

Dale F. Hake, 76, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Ossian Health Care. He was born on March 12, 1940, in Decatur, IN, the son of the late Otto and Rosetta Hake. On August 12, 1961, he married Sarah J. Gass and after 49 years together, she preceded him in death on December 13, 2010. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion to the sick and homebound and was also a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, where he served as Past Exalted Ruler. Dale was a 1958 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School, where he played basketball. He loved tennis, golf, running and enjoyed sports. He worked as a Manager of Material Scheduling at Harvester/Navistar for 40 years. He is survived by 2 sons, Geoffrey (Lori) Hake of Decatur and Jake (Ivonne) Hake of Kissimmee, FL; a daughter, Amanda (Mike) Davis of Palmetto, FL; 2 brothers, Larry (Terri) Hake of Las Vegas and Gregory Hake of Decatur; 4 sisters, Bonnie Kohne, of Decatur, Marilyn (Thomas) Bodensteiner of Lincoln, NE, Judith (Larry) Moore of CA and Susan Coulter of Harpers Ferry, WV; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by 3 sons, Christopher J., Dennis A. and Douglas P. Hake, a daughter-in-law, Jennifer A. (Tosconi) Hake, and 4 brothers, Jim, Dan, Rick, and Tim Hake. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with calling prior from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father Bob J. Lengerich will be officiating and burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School.
