William H. "Bill" Clutts, 83, of Murphysboro, passed away, surrounded by his family and went to be with his Heavenly Father. at 10:15 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016, at his residence in Murphysboro. William was born on January 20, 1933, in Grand Tower, Illinois, to Raymond Clutts and Sarah (Hagler) Clutts. He had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Clutts had retired from the U. S. Department of Forestry Services and had worked at several other jobs in the area. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 127, the V.F.W. Post # 7190 and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge # 1591, all of Murphysboro. Bill married Ethel Mae Childers on October 23, 1957, in Jackson County, Illinois and she survives. He is survived by five children William Henry "Billy" Clutts and his wife Diane Chi of Moreno Valley, CA, Linda Moreland, Robert Clutts and his fiancée Mary Higgs, Mike Clutts and his wife Terri Clutts, all of Murphysboro, and Christy Lynn Clutts and her significant other Chad Brazier of Destin, FL; seven grandchildren Robert Joseph Clutts, Ashley Hughes, Sheena Ridings, Jessica Carr, Braden Hale, Taryn Qualm, and Kayln Greathouse; seven great grandchildren; and his "bestest" friend, his dog, Lady. He was preceded in death by one son Ronnie Joe Clutts, one half brother Curtis Clutts, and his parents.; Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. James Easton officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park with military services conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127.
