Mildred "Millie" B. Ford, 91, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Integrity Nursing Home in Chester, Illinois. Mildred was born on August 24, 1925, in Alto Pass, Illinois, to George Washington Sides and Grace (Willison) Sides. She had worked as a certified nurse's aide at the former Roosevelt Square in Murphysboro. She loved to do crafts and take care of her yard, but she especially loved to take care of other people. Millie married Ivan Weston "Wes" Ford on August 10, 1968, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2004. She is survived by two daughters and son in laws Sharon and Carlos Gurley of Alto Pass and Debbie and Michael Leggans of Gorham; six grandchildren Shane Clutts, Jeremy Leggans and his fiancée Amber, Stephanie Knop and her husband Justin, Tammy Hagler and her husband Paul, Jennifer Dunn and her husband J. P. and Daniel "Bumper" Gurley and his wife Crystal; six great grandchildren Katelyn, Klayton, Carley, Taylor, Drew, and Kenna; and one great great grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by one brother Paul Sides, one sister Lucille Gibson, and her parents. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Wright officiating and burial at Tower Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
